FACC Mega Yard Sale raises money for scholarship fund
Food, fun and fall-like weather made for a successful FACC Mega Yard Sale on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Highlands Campus.
Several hundred people and about a dozen dogs strolled through the event, which raised $372 and exceeded last fall’s total of $302.50.
Proceeds from this semiannual event go toward the FACC general scholarship fund and provides employees an opportunity to get together outside of the work setting, said Sandy Turke, benefits coordinator.
FACC had a record number of 28 vendors and 36 tables, which included SFCC staff and student groups, and representation from Avon Park Middle School and Sebring High School. The FACC table, which was staffed by Sandy Turke, Dick Peavy, Dr. Kimberly Batty-Herbert, and Kellie Zimmer, raised $94.75 up from last November’s total of $70.36.
“It was such a pleasure to see something which requires a lot of effort and preparation on the part of so many people come together at the end to make the event a success,” said Julie Baker, staff assistant, Corporate and Continuing Education.
