Convocation Week Kicks Off Fall 2014

South Florida State College gears up for the 2014-2015 academic year with its annual Convocation week starting at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18, in the SFSC University Center Auditorium. Dr. Thomas Leitzel, SFSC president, will make a brief presentation and recognize employees for their years of service.

Prior to the opening of Convocation, coffee, snacks, and juice will be provided by the SFSC Chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC). A potluck luncheon in the cafeteria follows Convocation at 11:30 a.m. Don’t forget to bring a dish of your favorite family recipe. The schedule below provides some of the times and places of Convocation events.

SFSC welcomes all new employees, including the following:

Jessica Bailes

Jessica Bailes will join SFSC full-time as a nursing instructor starting Aug. 18. She has been an adjunct instructor at SFSC since Oct. 2013 and has over 11 years of professional nursing experience. She received her associate’s degree from SFSC, and a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in nursing from the University of South Florida.

Dr. Lisa McConnell will become a full-time nursing instructor starting Aug. 18. Since 2009, she has been an adjunct nursing instructor at SFSC. Prior to SFSC, she was an adjunct nursing instructor at State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota, Warner University, and the University of South Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, a Master of Public Health degree in nursing, and a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of South Florida.
