The annual Rio de la Paz Festival and Art of the River exhibition returned to the SFSC DeSoto Campus on Saturday, Feb. 8. Organized by the DeSoto Arts and Humanities Council, the festival highlighted the beauty of Florida’s Peace River Valley as well as the plants, animals, and people who call it home. An exhibit of paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery, and textile art filled the lobby and second floor of the DeSoto Campus. Several book authors discussed their work, while local artists and craft makers displayed everything from hand-painted women’s handbags to homemade canned goods that were once a staple of pioneer life.
