Librarian Receives SuperStar Award
Susan Livingston is the March 2013 recipient of the Ask A Librarian SuperStar Award, given each month to librarians who provide exemplary service to patrons of the program.
“Susan has been a backbone to the Ask A Librarian program,” said Jessica Riggins, member services coordinator, Tampa Bay Library Consortium, Inc. “If there is a call to help, she is there. She chooses to staff regular evening hours with the intention of assisting her statewide colleagues most in need of help.”
During her 10 years of service to Ask A Librarian, Livingston has received multiple awards, including the Exemplary Reference honor in April 2007 and exemplary teaching chat awards in June 2007, April 2008, and October 2008. She has mentored other librarians who are new to the service, delivered live training webinars, and answered questions from people all over the world.
Livingston said she enjoyed helping people find information they need but found special pleasure in helping college students. “I work with a lot of college students around the state. I realize how helpful Ask A Librarian can be because students in some places don’t have opportunities to work with librarians,” Livingston said.
The SuperStar Award is especially meaningful as Livingston will be retiring in May.
