Costume parade and hot dog roast scare up Halloween fun
South Florida Community College’s ghouls and bogeys are invited to scare up their most fiendish looks for the sixth annual Halloween Costume Contest and Parade on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Highlands Campus.
The parade will step off at 10 a.m. from Panther Cove Park, wind around the campus, and then return to the park by 11:30 a.m. for the costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places. All SFCC staff and students may participate.
The second annual Halloweenie Roast will be served in Panther Cove Park, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Meals will consist of grilled hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, brownies, and soft drinks.
Florida Blood Centers Highlands will send its Blood Mobile to the Highlands Campus, Wednesday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Each blood donor will receive a ticket for a free Halloweenie Roast meal. For all others, the cost is $4.
The Halloweenie Roast is sponsored by the SFCC Social Committee, the SFCC Wellness Committee, and the SFCC chapter of the Florida Association of Community Colleges (FACC).
