SFSC Celebrates Expanded Mission
Approximately 300 residents and students helped South Florida State College celebrate its new name and expanded mission Wednesday afternoon at the SFSC: Open House Celebration on the Highlands Campus. The program began with the raising of the new SFSC flag and the dedication of a time capsule on the mural circle. Afterwards, the festivities continued with music, food, and other activities in the Catherine P. Cornelius Student Services and Classroom Complex. Here, Dr. Norman L. Stephens Jr., SFSC president, encourages the crowd to wave the miniature SFSC flags they received in preparation for the raising of the new SFSC flag. The flag represents South Florida State College’s expansion from a community college that offered two-year associate degrees to a state college that can offer its own four-year bachelor’s degrees. This fall, SFSC launched its first bachelor’s program – the Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Supervision and Management (BAS-SM).
