SACS Approves First Bachelor’s Degree
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of our District Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce that the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, at a meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, today approved our college as a baccalaureate degree granting-institution. Now we have the full authority to enroll the charter class of students who will pursue their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Supervision and Management through South Florida State College this coming fall.
This is a significant milestone, one that we’ve worked hard to achieve. Much credit goes to the faculty and staff who recognized the need for access to baccalaureate-level higher education in our college district and created the rigorous and relevant curriculum. It has been a long process beginning with a vision, a needs assessment, approval from the SFCC Board of Trustees, the Florida State Board of Education, and now our accrediting body.
This is a great day for our college community and for all the future students who will most certainly benefit from this educational opportunity.
Norm Stephens
