Chili Cookoff Supports Relay for Life
Kevin Brown, dean, Applied Sciences and Technologies, Eddie Cuencas, Relay for Life team advisor, and Joel Boydston, winner of the 2012 Chili Cookoff, recently presented SFCC Relay for Life team captains, Jennifer Fiorillo, SFCC Avon Park Panthers Fight Back, and Ralene Graham, SFCC Student Nurses Association, with a check for the American Cancer Society. Every year, the funds raised from the Chili Cookoff are donated to SFCC’s Relay for Life teams.
With 12 competitors and numerous SFCC employees and students who attended, the 2012 Chili Cookoff proved to be the most successful yet, raising $830 for the American Cancer Society.
“In the 10 years that the Division of Applied Science and Technologies has hosted the Chili Cookoff, this is the most we have ever raised,” Brown said. “So many of our friends and colleagues at SFCC have battled cancer. This is just one small way we can show our support.”
SFCC employees, students, and friends can still sign up to participate in the Avon Park Relay for Life event, which will be held Friday, April 20, at Avon Park High School.
