Rick Hitt Part of Inaugural Hall of Fame Class
Coach Rick Hitt’s career as head baseball coach and athletic director is well known at South Florida Community College and in Avon Park, but recently he was recognized in Gainesville for his contributions as a member of the 1985 Santa Fe College baseball team. The 1985 Santa Fe College Saints were State and Regional Baseball Champions 27 years ago and finished number three in the nation at the NJCAA level. The team was enshrined in the Santa Fe College Athletics Hall of Fame in a recent induction ceremony.
“First of all I’m very honored to be recognized, and very happy for Coach Harry Tholen, one of the best people you will ever meet in or out of the game of baseball,” Hitt said. “Getting an opportunity to pitch in the College World Series, in that setting in Grand Junction, Colorado will be a lifelong memory for me.
Former Saints Head Coach Harry Tholen, who is currently a volunteer for the Saints, said Hitt has known success his entire career. “Rick was not only a successful player, but is a successful coach, athletic director and is currently the Vice President of the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association,” said Tholen. “He was an important part of our 1985 team and has continued throughout his career making an impact.”

Congratulations Rick!
