Heartland Games for Active Adults Begin March 1
More SFCC employees will be able to participate in the Heartland Games for Active Adults (previously the Heartland Senior Games) because of the generosity of the SFCC Wellness Committee. Hosted by SFCC’s Community Education Department, the games will be held March 1-31. The registration fee is $15; however, SFCC employees ages 50 and over who wish to participate can register for $10.
The mission of the games is to encourage and promote healthy lifestyles for anyone over 50 and to provide them the opportunity to compete at the local, state, and national levels. The SFCC Wellness Committee will provide $5 off of each employee registration this year in effort to continue its mission of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Heartland Games for Active Adults features a variety of sports events at locations throughout Highlands County. This year’s events are basketball, beach volleyball, billiards, bowling, cycling, golf, horse shoes, pickleball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, tennis (on courts), and track and field.
The Heartland Games for Active Adults is sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and qualifies athletes for the Florida Senior Games State Championships.
