South Florida Community College Receives Business of the Year
South Florida Community College was chosen as the Sebring Chamber of Commerce 2011 Business of the Year and was presented the award during the annual Sebring Chamber of Commerce banquet on Jan. 26. Businesses are nominated for the award based on their support of the chamber and community. “With SFCC bringing so much opportunity to the community by becoming a four-year college, we knew there would be no better pick,” said Kristie Sottile, Sebring Chamber of Commerce.
“On behalf of everyone associated with the college, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the district board of trustees, we thank the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce,” said Dr. Norm Stephens, SFCC president. “It is especially satisfying to know that the chamber, representing the business community, chose to honor the college in this manner. A college is successful when its students are seriously engaged in their education, when faculty are competent and dedicated to student learning, when the administration and staff support the students and the faculty in their efforts, and when the board of trustees represents the interests of the communities served by the college. We’ve had a great year, but the passion for excellence grows. This affirmation encourages us to strive with even greater dedication to our mission.”
