Dr. Everest co-authors book on current affairs
Commonsense Guide to Current Affairs, a book co-authored by Dr. Marcy Everest, instructor, Political Science, and Vincent Frank Bedogne, was published in August by Resource Publications, an imprint of Wipf and Stock.
Dr. Everest said the book evolved from common interests she shares with Bedogne, her friend of many years. He is the author of 11 books, including entries in the Threshold to Meaning series, also published by Wipf and Stock. This is Dr. Everest’s first book, although she has written articles for numerous publications.
The book’s 40 chapters deal with a multitude of complex and timely subjects – from diet and exercise, to family, society, and civilization, to renewable energy, global warming, and cap and trade, and even to abortion, terrorism, and UFOs.
According to the publisher’s note, the authors “strip away the layers of liberal and conservative ideology to look at the most talked about topics of our time from the standpoint of what the politicians have forgotten – common sense.”
“We wanted to inspire critical thinking by the reader on topics people talk about every day,” Dr. Everest said. “We provide facts and information as opposed to ideology.”
