Art Students Create Stepping Stones
Students in South Florida Community College’s 3-D Design class recently constructed a new pathway on the east side of the SFCC Theater for the Performing Arts, Building A. The pathway, called Stepping Stones, is made up of 14 concrete stones with stain glass mosaic designs of flora and fauna that can be found on the SFCC Museum of Florida Art and Culture’s Wildflower Wayside Shrine Trail. To complete the project, the students took pictures of native species on the trail, sketched their favorite designs, and cut and shaped the glass to create the mosaic.
“Over the years, students in SFCC’s art classes created this makeshift path by cutting across the grass in this area,” said Misty Rucks, 3-D Design student. “We wanted to make the path more visually pleasing and give a little something back to SFCC.”
