SFCC Lady Panther Volleyball Digs Pink
During the 2011 volleyball season, the South Florida Community College Lady Panther volleyball team, along with thousands of volleyball teams across the country, plans to raise breast cancer awareness by participating in the Side-Out Foundation’s Dig Pink initiative. The Side-Out Foundation is a support and advocacy organization dedicated to making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families by supporting clinical trials, increasing compassionate support services and educating communities.
“We’ve all been touched by cancer,” said Kim Crawford, SFCC Women’s Volleyball coach. “For the past couple of years, Lady Panther Volleyball has raised funds for breast cancer awareness on its own, and we’ve raised $200-$250 a year. By working with Dig Pink, we are able to get our community more involved and increase our goal to $1500.”
Donations can be made by visiting the Lady Panthers’ Dig Pink website http://www.side-out.org/application/ous/fundraising_page/45412. A Dig Pink pep rally will be held during the Lady Panther volleyball game versus Florida Christian College on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., in the Panther Gym.
