SFCC 8th Annual Wellness Fair
SFCC will hold its eighth annual Wellness Fair on Friday, March 4, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., in the SFCC University Center. All health screenings are free and open to all full-time, part-time, and temporary college employees, with or without health insurance.
BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) will provide free health screenings for cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure. Screenings begin at 9 a.m. Fasting is optional, however, the recommended length of time for participants who choose to fast is two hours before their screening.
Participants are eligible to win a variety of door prizes including tickets to Lion Country Safari, two four-day super tickets to the 12 Hours of Sebring, two passes to Bok Tower, restaurant gift certificates, and a brush set from the SFCC Cosmetology program.
Full-time employees covered under the group health plan are also eligible to participate in the Blue Rewards program and can earn 250 points by simply participating in the Personal Health Assessment (PHA) at the fair. Participants who enroll in the on-line tracking program will receive a $25 gift card. Employees can sign up for the program by logging into their My Blue Service account at www.bcbsfl.com. If 50 percent of full-time employees participate, SFCC will receive $10,000 to fund future wellness endeavors and provide individual rewards.
Vendors scheduled to attend this year’s Wellness Fair are EAP-Horizon Health, Florida Hospital, Sam’s Club, AAA Auto, and the SFCC Nursing department. Dr. Pepper’s Chiropractic Office, Teresa Jones, and the Hand Rehabilitation Center will offer free massages. Prepaid Legal and tax sheltered annuity providers will also be present to answer any questions employees may have.

The Florida Retirement System (FRS) will also hold two workshops for all employees: Using the FRS to Plan for Your Retirement, 8:30-10 a.m., and Income Tax Planning, Smart Planning for Your Taxes, 10:30 a.m.-noon, in the SFCC University Cnter.
