Community College Week Returns March 14 – 17
Community College Week returns for its 25th year at South Florida Community College (SFCC) March 14 – 17, at the Highlands Campus. The week is hosted by the SFCC Student Government Association (SGA) and will be filled with fun and games for both SFCC students and employees.
This weeklong celebration of Florida’s community and state college system has become a tradition at SFCC. This year will bring new fun and games to South Florida Community College, including a power jump contest and dodge ball competition. Last year’s popular games will also return, such as jousting, rock wall climbing, and a tug of war contest. The opening ceremony begins Monday, March 14, at noon on the steps of the SFCC Theatre for the Performing Arts. Once again, Pete the Panther is expected to light the Community College Week torch. Games will be held each day through Thursday, March 17, and the festivities conclude with an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
SGA encourages students, staff, and faculty from all SFCC sites to join in on the fun. SGA hopes to top last year’s overall participation of 170 students and employees and make it the biggest Community College Week in SFCC history.
