Maria Sanchez Completes Marathon

SFCC’s Maria Sanchez, accountant, revenue and receivables, recently participated in the 2011 Disney Marathon. Sanchez completed the marathon in 5:05:34 and placed 7,213 out of 13,522 overall; 2,630 out of 6,267 in the women’s division; and 449 out of 1,070 in her division. Though she’s been running on her own since high school, Sanchez only began running 5ks and 10ks two years ago and ran in her first half-marathon last year in Dallas, where she lived at the time. The 2011 Disney Marathon was her first full marathon.
The marathon route began at the Epcot Center theme park and took the runners through Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Magic Kingdom, and the Disney resorts. “The half-way point was through Cinderella’s Castle. The setup and the energy of everyone there was very inspirational. It was a great experience for my first marathon.” Sanchez plans to continue running in the future and hopes to run in a half-marathon in Miami Beach in December.
I went to school with Maria, she is a good friend. I think its great what she is doing. Maria has a positive attitude and is a Great role model. Keep up the good work, Maria!!
