South Florida Community College’s FASTeam (Faculty, Administrators, Staff) reclaimed the Dr. W. Aubrey Gardener “Battle of the Brains” Cup in a friendly competition with student Brain Bowl team members on Oct. 27 in Building B. Dr. Norm Stephens, Jim McBride, Dr. Marcy Everest, and Dr. Mike McLeod became the Battle of the Brains champions by correctly answering brainteasers about mathematics, science, literature, and history, such as “Who was the founder and king of Troy?” (Ilus) and “What is the only bone in the mouth not connected to another bone?” (the hyoid bone). Dr. Theresa James served as moderator, and Dr. Deborah Fuschetti was the scorekeeper. In addition to becoming the temporary custodians of the Battle of the Brains cup, the FASTeam won the right to brag about their brains until the next competition in the spring.

The suspense mounts for Battle of the Brains moderator Dr. Theresa James and other spectators as the dueling teams wrack their brains for an answer to a difficult question.
