Dr. Linda Ward Elected Chair of the CIO Council
Dr. Linda Ward, SFCC chief information officer, was recently elected as chair of the Florida College System’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council. The CIO Council includes all 28 Florida state and community colleges and evaluates opportunities regarding technology and all related issues. It reports its findings and recommendations to the Council of Business Affairs (COBA).
“I’m always willing to move forward the efforts of the CIO, and I felt it was important that one of the smaller colleges become chair,” Dr. Ward said. “This will provide visibility to SFCC and will help us become more involved in shaping some of the relationships and recommendations to the Florida College System in regard to technology.”
“Being elected to a chair position by your peers demonstrates a high level of respect by your colleagues,” said Glenn Little, vice president, Administrative Services. “It also provides the new chair an opportunity to enhance leadership skills and to network with colleagues and vendors at a higher level. Dr. Ward’s service as the CIO chair will greatly enhance South Florida Community College’s visibility among vendors and peers and will provide SFCC better access to resources.”
Dr. Ward’s term as chair of the CIO will run through June 2011.
