Security Department Debuts New Carts

Lydell Cassidy (left) and Joseph Lucia are just two of the many security guards SFCC employees and students will see around campus on the newly refurbished security carts.
Highlands Campus employees may have noticed some bright new carts zipping around the campus this summer. The SFCC Security department recently refurbished its security carts to make them more distinguishable from the maintenance carts. “We wanted to increase the visibility and awareness of our Security Department”, said Keith Loweke, coordinator, Risk Management. “In the past, students and visitors have mistaken the plain white carts for maintenance carts, so that’s why we chose the bright safety yellow color. The color is so unique, it leaves little question.” The security department also took additional measures to enhance the visibility of the carts at night. These include reflective lettering and beacon strobe lights for the roof.
Dan Longenecker and Tim Burnett of the Auto Collision program provided all of the labor in painting the carts. American Golf Cart Inc. also helped refurbishing the carts by donating body assembles and miscellaneous cart parts. Two additional carts were also added to the existing fleet.
