SFCC Foundation 26th Annual Spring Gala
The SFCC Foundation, Inc. held its 26th annual Spring Gala on April 24 at the Hotel Jacaranda. Each year, the SFCC Foundation conducts its annual meeting during the banquet and raises money for student scholarships. The highlights of the gala were the live and silent auctions which included vacations to New York City, New Orleans, Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Ga., St. Augustine, Fla., Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys, and two Apple iPads. Scholarship recipients Alexandra Garcia, Take Stock in Children, and Jennifer Nichols, Drs. Vinod and Tarlika Thakkar Scholarship Award for Academic Excellence, were also present and thanked the SFCC Foundation board for its efforts and helping them attend college.
“The annual gala is a time when we elect new directors to serve three-year terms on our board and is also an exciting fund raising event,” said Don Appelquist, director, SFCC Foundation, Inc. “Last year we awarded nearly $500,000 in scholarships to needy and deserving students, and this event helps us raise some of that money.”
