SFCC 7th Annual Wellness Fair
SFCC will hold its seventh annual Wellness Fair on Friday, March 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the SFCC University Center. All health screenings are free and open to all full-time, part-time, and temporary college employees, with or without health insurance.
BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) will provide free health screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, and blood pressure. Lipid panel testing will also be available for an additional $6 and is payable by cash or check. Screenings begin at 9 a.m. Participants must fast for two hours before their screening and are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes. The Fitness Factory will perform body mass index tests.
The SFCC Nursing Department and Highlands County Health Department will provide help for smoking cessation. Massage by TJ, Dr. Pepper’s Chiropractic office, and The Hand Rehabilitation Center will offer free massages.
Everyone who registers for a health screening will receive a Passport to Wellness to be eligible for door prize drawings. Participants must visit four of the vendors from the five different vendor groups and have their passport cards initialed by the vendor. Prizes include tickets to Lion Country Safari, two four-day supertickets to the 12 Hours of Sebring, two passes to Bok Tower, a Lake Sebring Golf Resort certificate, restaurant gift certificates, a Swedish massage, and a bicycle. Vendors will also have a door prize drawing at their tables.
Other vendors scheduled to attend this year’s Wellness Fair are Gentle Foot Care, Florida Hospital, the American Cancer Society, Gold’s Gym, EAP-Horizon, AFLAC, Sam’s Club, AAA Auto Club, Wachovia Bank, and Bunting, Tripp & Ingley CPAs. Custom Benefits, Prepaid Legal, and tax sheltered annuity providers will also be present to answer any questions employees may have.
