RSVP Holds Volunteer Awards Luncheon
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), sponsored by South Florida Community College, held its annual volunteer luncheon Feb. 5. During the luncheon, outstanding service awards were presented to RSVP volunteers.
Dot Hogan, Manna Ministries volunteer, received the Marcia Luttman Outstanding Service Award for coordinating the back to school supply drive. Over $2,700 and 1,000 supplies were collected during the drive. American Red Cross volunteers, Chuck and Janet Day, received the Roger Fritsch Outstanding Service Award for serving over 2,000 volunteer hours since 2007. The volunteers from Nu Hope Lake Placid Thrift Store were awarded the Ruth Allen Outstanding Service Award for their dedication to serving those in need.
“RSVP volunteers do so much for Highlands County and its people,” said Kris Schmidt, RSVP coordinator. “We want to honor them for their service and the wonderful jobs they do.”
Over 200 RSVP volunteers attended and enjoyed entertainment by the Sebring High School Show Choir and the Highlands Little Theatre Glad Hatters.
