Major Leaguers Honored with Panther Dedication Ceremony
The South Florida Community College Panthers will dedicate the jerseys of four former Panthers, who have Major League Baseball service, during a dedication ceremony prior to the season home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 4:55 p.m., at Panther Field.
Former SFCC Panthers and Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Chris Waters, Detroit Tigers outfielder Ryan Raburn, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Litsch, and former Colorado Rockies pitcher Darren Clarke will receive a framed jersey, and a special banner will be displayed on the Panther Baseball Field outfield fence which will include each of the former players’ numbers.
“Having a special jersey dedication ceremony for these guys gives our program and community an opportunity to congratulate and say thank you to each of them for who they are and what they mean to us,” said Rich Hitt, SFCC head baseball coach. “We are very proud of them.”
Following the dedication, the SFCC Panthers will face off against Seminole State College of Florida. Athletics will also sell rib dinners for $6 from 4 to 6 p.m.
